In accordance with international health regulation, approvals have been obtained from National Ethics Committees in Cambodia, Cameroon, France, Madagascar and Senegal.

CNIL (Commision Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés) approval
In accordance with the French Data Privacy law of January 6, 1978, as amended by the law of August 6, 2004, the collection and processing of personal data have been declared to the CNIL (declaration No. 911202). Patients included in our study have a right of access, modification and deletion of the processing of their personal data.

International Ethical Guidelines for Epidemiological Studies – 2009
Prepared by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS), the present revised Guidelines are intended at least to draw the attention of investigators, sponsors and ethical review committees to the need to consider carefully the ethical implications of research protocols and the manner in which research is conducted, and thus to conduce to high scientific and ethical standards in epidemiological research.

International Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research Involving Human Subjects – 2002

Prepared by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the purpose of the present Guidelines was to indicate how the ethical principles that should guide the conduct of biomedical research involving human subjects, as set forth in the Declaration of Helsinki, could be effectively applied, particularly in developing countries, given their socioeconomic circumstances, laws and regulations, and executive and administrative arrangements.

The World Medical Association (WMA) has developed the Declaration of Helsinki as a statement of ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects, including research on identifiable human material and data. The Declaration is intended to be read as a whole and each of its constituent paragraphs should not be applied without consideration of all other relevant paragraphs.
